Ew…Sunshine

Hello! Let me start by saying that I love the sun. I love sunny days, seeing sunshine dappled through trees, seeing how shadows shift as the earth moves around the sun… But I thought it would be really funny to use the My Monthly Super Hero kit from Hero Arts along with the Sun & Moon Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs, to make a card with a goth girl that is miserable in the golden light.

Sadly, the My Monthly Super Hero Kit for June 2026 just sold out, but if you were able to snag this, or perhaps you have the December 2025 Large Die of the Month (I believe that is the one with the gal and the turban) to recreate this look. I made my gal wear all black (of course), and didn’t do any shading. I used Black Velvet Stain Mirror Cardstock from Tonic Studios to it would look different from her hat, makeup, and top.

My gal is pretty big. She fits on an A2 sized card front, but since I really wanted the sun and it’s rays to have a big impact, I decided to make my card a 5×7. I took a piece of yellow cardstock from Spellbinders, and used Tiara Ink from Catherine Pooler with the Sun & Moon Stencil. The stencil is 6×9, so there’s lots of space to play with it. You’ll see a card with the moon from this stencil another day. I die cut the word “sunshine” from the My Monthly Hero Kit out of yellow and orange cardstock. Then I hand scribbled “Ew…” because I just couldn’t find the right font in any of my alpha dies.

I really love the vibe in this month’s My Monthly Hero Kits, but I just had to make at least one card a bit snarky. I bet you know some folks that would rather not see the sun.
