Greetings! When I first saw the Volcano Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs, I immediately thought it would be wonderful for encouragement cards. “You’ve climbed a mountain, and now you’ve reached the summit,” kind of thing. I have a few ideas on how I want to use this stencil, but I first wanted to tackle it with Golden Era Glacier Paste from Tonic Studios. I knew it would look stunning, especially on black cardstock.

Working on black cardstock, I started by using the Golden Era Glacier Paste on the sky portion of the stencil. Thanks to the angled Media Spatula from Tonic Studios, I didn’t even need to mask off the mountain! I officially love that spatula! I quickly washed off my stencil and then let the paste dry on my panel. It’s so hard to capture the shine on camera, but it is just gorgeous.

I needed my mountain (volcano) to stand out on the black cardstock, so I used Cement VersaColor Ink with a sponge dauber and it gave me a great rocky effect. Then I chose a banner sentiment from the Banner Days Stamp & Cut from Hero Arts and used it with ivory paper…white would have been too stark. I mounted the panel onto a black card base.

I’d like to make this card look as though the Northern Lights are above the volcano/mountain next. I think that would be really cool.
