Greetings! Earlier this month, I shared THIS post on how I used a Gel Press monoprint with the I Ruff You stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. Today, I’m doing something similar, except with the Cat Stretch stencil, also from A Colorful Life Designs.

My monoprint this time was made with acrylic paint, a hair clip and Play Doh. Yup. Play Doh. You can check out how it was done in THIS YouTube video. It’s a good one to watch, I promise. This print was done on my 8×10 Gel Press Plate, so I trimmed it down (and kept the excess!) to 4″ x 5 1/4.” Then I inked the Cat Stretch stencil with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink with a cosmetic sponge. After that, I heat embossed the panel with black embossing powder.
In the photo above, you can really see the shine from the embossing powder. Many people think that when a black cat crosses your path, you’re going to have bad luck. But what if the cat is just warning you that something bad may be about to happen? My cats were both black, and they never gave me bad luck. I decided to pull out an old favorite set from Hero Arts that has long been retired. It’s called Luna the Halloween Cat, and not only does it have fabulous cat images, but also really great sentiments. I chose the “good luck,” stamped it with Nocturne, fussy cut it, and then chose a couple of inks that coordinated with my background so that it wasn’t just white. I inked the edges of my white card base with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide.
This Gel Press print worked really well with Cat Stretch because the lines from the hair clip looks like the stretching of the cats.
