Greetings! Today I’m sharing a card that uses the Luxe Backdrop and Border 3D Emboss and Cut Folder from Spellbinders. That’s a mouthful! I’m using the top portion of the folder today, but I’ll have a project featuring the border soon. Today’s card is more of a masculine card, but it can certainly be altered for anyone.
I started off by sprinkling some Red Hot Poker Orange Magicals from Lindy’s Gang (from the Autumn Leaves collection) directly into the embossing folder with a dry fan brush. Use code P6GKPI07KTCTAV for 10% off at Lindy’s Gang. Then I spritzed the folder with water, placed a piece of Strathmore’s Smooth Bristol Cardstock inside, and ran it through my die cut machine. When it came out, I added a bit more of the Magicals and water to really cover the whole panel. I was careful not to overmix the colors, because I wanted to be able to see them all on the finished piece.
To help the embossing stand out once the panel was dry, I inked up my small Tim Holtz Brayer with Pinecone VersaFine Clair Ink. The panel is very art deco looking, so I pulled out the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Kit from February 2019. The sentiments and images in that set are perfect for this background. I chose to color the car with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens and emboss my sentiment in gold on vellum. I wrapped the vellum around the panel so that there would be no exposed adhesive. I inked my card base with Fired Brick Distress Ink.
I love the dimension and design of this embossing folder. And the shine from the Magicals really makes it pop. This is a pretty quick card to make, and I want to do it in many colors with various colored-in images. What colors would you use? Be sure to visit Spellbinders to see the entire new release. I’ll have plenty more to share throughout the rest of the month. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
[…] You may have seen me use the Backdrop portion of this folder before. If not, you can check it out HERE. But today, I am only using the Border portion of the folder, along with the coordinating die. […]
