Fresh Lace

Hello! I love the card I’m sharing with you today. It’s very me. It’s got lots of black, holographic elements, plus bold colors. It features the new Fresh Lace stencil from A Colorful Life Designs, which is beautiful.

I really wanted to make the fresh Lace stencil pop, and not just make a soft and pretty card. Don’t get me wrong, it’s totally perfect for that…but if you know my style, I like to push boundaries. I took an old Gel Press print I made using Radiant Neon Reinkers from Imagine. I had just brayered the colors on to my Plate to create a really bright rainbow. Now, I temporarily adhered the stencil to the background and inked it up with VersaMark ink using a sponge dauber, so I could be sure to get a good coat of ink.

Next, I poured Detail Black embossing powder on top of the inked area after I removed the stencil. I heat set it, and got the rad result you see here. Fresh Lace is a 6×6 stencil, so I cut it down, and now I have a second piece I can use at a later date. I added a black strip of cardstock below the stenciled panel…but I needed something to go on top of both top create a better transition. So I grabbed some holographic cardstock and cut a thin strip. I used the same cardstock to die cut the Brushed Hello die from Simon Says Stamp, which I also cut twice out of black cardstock to raise the sentiment off the card. I actually kept the edge of my card base white…which I don’t often do, but I didn’t want it black, and I didn’t want to single a color out from the many I used on the card, White was the right choice this time.

I love the flashes of color from the holographic cardstock, and the shine from the embossing powder. But that Fresh Lace stencil really steals the show.
