Hello! One of the newest stencils from A Colorful Life Designs is called Fresh Lace, and I am having a terrific time with it. You may have already seen me work with it HERE. This time, instead of using bright, bold colors, I stuck with black and white.

I started by inking directly on to my card base with Black Soot Distress Ink. There was a lot of ink left on the stencil, and I didn’t want it to go to waste. I ran the stencil through my die cutting machine with a rubber pad so that the stencil would not only create an impression, but the ink would transfer to the paper. I liked the result so much I decided to use it on the same card I was already working on.
I tore a piece of the embossed cardstock to sit at the bottom left corner of my card. I needed to break up the pattern, so I tore some black cardstock as well. I grabbed a sentiment from my stash from Pinkfresh Studio’s Perfect Sentiments and added that on, as well as some black and white rhinestones from Doodles Paper Playground.
I can’t recall the last time I made a black and white card, but I am so happy I made it this way. And having the stencil shown two ways on the same card is a cool look.
