Foiled Ceiling Tile

Greetings! Today I am sharing one of the newest stencils from A Colorful Life Designs. It’s called Ceiling Tile, and it’s a big 6″ x 9″ stencil. Because of it’s size, when working on different sized cards, you can greatly change the look of your card by simply using different areas of the stencil. For this card, I worked with the middle, but in another card you’ll see later in the month, I worked with a different area.

When I first saw this stencil, I knew I needed to add foil to it. I thought the Summer Rainbow Deco Foil from Therm O Web would be just perfect. I applied their Transfer Gel Duo through the stencil and let it dry. The Duo allows you to adhere your foil with either a laminator or a die cutting machine. I tend to only break out my laminator when I am foiling multiple pieces at once, so this time I went with my die cutting machine. I do think the results are a bit better with the laminator. The die cutting machine tends to squish the stenciled image a bit. In this case it’s fine, but if you were working with a delicate stencil, I would absolutely recommend only using a laminator.

Look at those gorgeous colors and that bold stencil! I love it against the black cardstock. On top of the stenciled image I added to layers of the word “shine,” which I die cut from an older alpha set from CZ Design and Simon Says Stamp. The bottom layer is white, which I added a sparkle marker to, and the top is a bright pink glitter cardstock. The pinks don’t quite match as well as I would like, and it’s sort of driving me crazy….but I do think it’s pretty. On my base, I added an edge of gold watercolor from Fine Tec.

I seriously love that foiled background. It’s even prettier in person! I am looking forward to using more foils on this bold stencil.
