Cat Says No

Hello! Cats are funny. I’ve been around many, many cats in my lifetime and lots of them seem to have a good bit of snark in them. They definitely have opinions, and they do not care if they gel with yours or not. Today, I am using the new Cat Says No Stencil from A Colorful Life Deigns with an older one I used on a background that’s been sitting in my stash for a while.

A while back, I was playing with the Mid Century Mod Pods Stencil Set. There are 2 layers to this set, but here I only used one of them. I honestly don’t recall exactly what I did, but I had used pale yellow cardstock and some orange ink. It looks like it could have been done on my Gel Press, but I really don’t recall. It was imperfect in that the lines weren’t very defined, which is why I think I did it on my Gel Press. Anyway, I decided to define these lines with a Black Micron Pen. I also added some additional lines, nodding to cat scratches.

I inked the Cat Says No Stencil with black dye-based ink. I was pretty achy that day from my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, so it was not my best job. It wasn’t black enough. To avoid subluxing my shoulders any more than usual, I went over the stenciled areas with a Black Posca Pen. Poscas are acrylic paint pens that I love working with. My cat looks a bit streaky, but it’s less noticeable in real life. I inked the edges of my card base with some Orange Peel Ink from Catherine Pooler.

This card makes me miss my two black cats immensely. It’s been 2 years since we lost our Tomato, and about 7 since we lost his brother Zucchini. Some day we will have cats again.
