Hello! I’m sharing another cat-themed card today (you’re going to see a bunch this month!). This time, I’m using the Cats Playing Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs with some fun dies from Spellbinders. There are actually six cats on the single stencil, but for this card, I am only using one. Just know there’s a ton of versatility here, and you can combine them in many different ways!

I had some inky playtime on a piece of Smooth Bristol Cardstock from Strathmore with Salvaged Patina and Kitsch Flamingo Distress Spray Stains. I had a nice big piece and thought it would be fun to use it for a couple of layers on this card. The smallest piece with the cat was die cut from the Color Block Accent Arches Die Set. This is a really unique set that works in conjunction with the Essential Arches Die Set, which I use all the time. It gives you a fun checkerboard look with no effort when you combine the two sets. I backed that first layer with teal cardstock. Then I die cut another set of arches with a splattered pink paper and a purple one with swirls.

These bright layers were perfect for my black cat to stand out on. I used VersaMark Ink with the stencil on the first arch, then heat embossed it with black embossing powder. Since this fella is playing, I die cut a ball from the June 2026 My Monthly Hero Kit from Hero Arts I cut it from the inked cardstock I had made and popped it up with 3mm Foam Strips from Scrapbook.com. Then, I created a rectangular of that same inky cardstock to add all of my arches to. I used Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide on my card base. You’ll notice that I didn’t add a sentiment. That’s because I just couldn’t decide what to use. So I chose to wait until I know who the recipient will be, and then I will add an appropriate sentiment.

I love how this kitty is so bold against the playful background. I think these die sets work really well with it too.
