Greetings! I love cars. Particularly cars & trucks from the 50’s & 60’s. So when I saw Mindy Eggen’s new collection with Spellbinders, called Classic Road Legends, I was beyond excited. I LOVE this collection. It’s so unique and it’s a lot of fun to put together the truck and cars in it. My first thought was to make some really sleek looking cards, but then I looked at the truck again, and really wanted to make it look old and rusted. Don’t worry, I’ll have some shiny vehicles soon, but I wanted to share my first iteration of the Timeless Truck.

I die cut the truck out of white, Copic-friendly cardstock. I colored some pieces, like the tires, before assembling the truck, and some after. Here is my color breakdown.
Tires: N2, N6, N9
Rust: E18, E37, E59, E31, E33
Truck: BG11, BG13, BG23, BG49, BG72
Chrome: C3 + Rust Colors, W2
Whites: E41
This took me a quite a while to color, and I used photo references to get it looking how I wanted, but the end result is so worth it. I really love how it turned out, especially since i never colored anything rusted like this before.

I lamented a while about how to finish the card off. But then I found some verrry old Basic Grey paper that worked perfectly. I inked the edges with Gathered Twigs and Vintage Photo Distress Inks, to give it more of a vignette look. Then I used some Kraft cardstock, and inked it roughly with more Gathered Twigs for the ground. I grabbed a sentiment from the Bestie Alphabet Beads & Sentiments BetterPress set and inked it with Salvaged Patina and Vintage Photo Distress Inks. I used my Waffle Flower Shader 1+ brushes for it. I inked my card base with Salvaged Patina, Vintage Photo, and Walnut Stain. I love that you can see the Salvaged Patina color, but it’s dingy looking because of the browns.

I am having an absolute blast with this collection. It’s so well thought out, and totally up my alley. I can’t wait to show you more with the Classic Road Legends collection! You can check out all of the products in the line over at Spellbinders. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
