All You Knit is Love

Hello! It’s time for a new House Mouse card, and I have to say, I really love this one. It’s called Knit One, and it’s available now from Spellbinders. I love seeing how the mice keep busy, and this time there’s a lot of knitting going on.

I stamped the mice onto a piece of Strathmore’s Smooth Bristol Cardstock with VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne. This is my favorite ink and paper combo when I am working with watercolor markers. I colored the scene with the following Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens:
Skin: 064, 071, 072, 230
Fur: 094, 901, 907
Needles: 057, 063
Yarn: 080, 084, 806
Ground: 034, 038, 303
Background: Evergreen Bough Distress Ink
Sentiment: Fantasia VersaFine Clair Ink
I trimmed this focal layer down with Spellbinders’ A2 Matting Basics Set B. I believe I used the 3rd largest die in the set.

For the other layer of my card, I cut a piece of Lawn Fawn’s Spiffy Speckles paper (with the blue speckles) down to 4″ x 5 1/4.” On top of that, I inked the Cozy Knit stencil from A Colorful Life Designs with Villainous Potion Distress Ink. I purposely didn’t ink the stencil evenly or completely. I wanted it dark in some areas and lighter in others for more visual interest. This is one of my most-used stencils across any brand. It’s just a great design, even if the theme of your card has nothing to do with knitting or sweaters. I mounted my two layers onto a gray card base.

I really love this card. It took quite a bit of time to color the yarn, but that’s because of the way I colored it. Because the artist that draws House Mouse adds shading to all of her work, you can easily just use one color and it’ll look like you shaded everything. But, I’m too anal about coloring, so I need to go 3 steps further. 😉 It’s definitely worth the time it takes, in my opinion.
