Dotted Wreath Stencil

Uncategorized

13 Feb

Hello! Have you seen the new Dotted Wreath Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs? It’s simple a wreath made up of different sized dots, which is great for adding texture and bits of color, or for drawing your eye in to the center of the wreath for a focal point. I decided to use some glittery embossing paste with it today, with a pretty die and lovely lotus flower.

I made an ink smooshed background with Distress Oxides in Salvaged Patina, Seedless Preserves, and Saltwater Taffy. Once it dried, I used the Nuvo Plum Spinel Glimmer Paste by Tonic with the Dotted Wreath stencil. For a little more color, I flicked on some Crackling Campfire Distress Spray Stain.

For the center of my card, I colored a lotus flower with Copics from Hero Arts’ Color Layering Dragonfly stamp set. I am already getting a lot of use out of that set! I fussy cut the flower, then layered it on top of two die cut circles. I needed something else, so I die cut a large piece of foliage from Studio Light. I can’t seem to find a link to the die, so I am guessing it’s discontinued. The cardstock I used for it had been sprayed with New Sprout Fireworks! Spray, so it has a nice shimmer to it.

I trimmed my background panel with my Tonic Deckle Trimmer and applied it to my card base which I inked with Salvaged Patina Distress Ink. I also added a sentiment from Pinkfresh Studio’s Perfect Sentiment Stamp and Die.

I love the watery colors in the background with the pops of deep plum from the Glitter Glaze and the Dotted Wreath stencil. The lotus flower is graphic and bold, and really stands out. I really like how this came together, especially since I didn’t have a plan when I started. Please be sure to visit A Colorful Life Designs to see the many, many stencils they have to offer.
