Hello! One of my favorite things to do with Distress Oxides is to ink up glossy photo paper with them. Typically, you get a chalky, oxidized look with these inks. But when you use them on photo paper, you can actually buff away the chalkiness and get bright, bold, amazing colors. Once I get backgrounds like these made, I like to sometimes stencil on top of them, which I did here with the new Tracks stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.

I inked my glossy photo paper with a few Distress Oxides. I used Twisted Citron, Seedless Preserves, Peacock Feathers, and Abandoned Coral. I went directly to the paper with the pads, as you can see some of the harsh edges (I was going for that look), and I did some smooshing as well. When the background was done, I buffed the chalkiness away with a tissue. On top of that, I inked the Tracks stencil with Salvaged Patina and again wiped away the chalk. I love that the colors under the stenciled areas still show through.
I had some shiny purple cardstock that I die cut “hey bestie” from Stamp Anniething. The Bestie is found HERE, and the “hey” was cut from Annie’s Alphabet. You can of course cut the whole thing from the alphabet set. I trimmed my panel down with my Tim Holtz/Tonic Deckle Trimmer. I inked my white card base with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and splattered on some Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Frost to get sparkly droplets. I added a few rhinestones too.
I love how bright this card is…and you wouldn’t necessarily know it’s Distress Oxides because they’re so bold. I really enjoy this technique too. I hope you’ll give it a try.
