Mummy Bands

Uncategorized

19 Sep

Hello! Have you got a lot of patterned paper? I know I do. A ton. I don’t use it as often as I should, but I got really inspired by a new “Layered Bands” stencil set from A Colorful Life Designs. And the idea I had worked perfectly with the new “Are You My Mummy” Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground.

I really like the fun patterns from Queen & Company’s Fright Fest paper pad. I decided they would be perfect for the technique I wanted to do. The Layered Bands stencil set has 2 stencils that create almost triangular bands… I used them on THIS CARD earlier in the month for a completely different look. This time, I used the stencil to trace the shapes on to my patterned paper. Then I cut them out, and using the stencils as guides, I adhered them to black cardstock. I particularly love the thin spacing between the bands. It helps to make each pattern really stand out.

Once everything was glued, I used Lawn Fawn’s Reverse Stitched Scalloped die to cut out the center. I have wanted this die for so long, and I finally have it! I love that the scallop is on the inside of the circle. I filled the space with the Are You My Mummy Sparkle Blend. I love the teeny clay mummies and the varying shades of white, black, oil slick, and green. It worked really well with all the patterned paper. I backed the window with a chevron print. I used the “boo!” from Catherine Pooler’s Mini Cobweb Cover Plate for my sentiment with one of the purple scraps of paper. I used a product that’s similar to Glossy Accents, but unfortunately, this product changed the color of the paper a bit, so it no longer matches perfectly. But it still looks okay.

I think this card came out so cute. And you can use up plenty of patterned paper! Think about this card done with Christmas-themed paper, or party paper….so many options. Plus, this is a pretty fast card to make because there is no stamping or coloring. Please be sure to check out the newest release from Doodles Paper Playground and use my code, ALISON10. And, don’t forget about the new release from A Colorful Life Designs. I have a code for them too, which is AlFan10. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
