Hello! I’ve got a bold, dramatic card to share today that uses the new Layered Bands stencil set from A Colorful Life Designs. There are 2 stencils and they help you to create a project with lots of angular bands without the need to mask, because of how the stencils have them spaced apart. I opted to use super shimmery metallic watercolors from Finetec on black cardstock. These watercolors pack quite a punch, especially with this stencil.

I laid the first stencil on to my black cardstock (I didn’t even use watercolor paper for this, though you absolutely can) and applied my red, yellow and blue. I purposefully used a horizontal motion when applying the paints, because I wanted my strokes to show and be consistent. After that layer dried, I applied the orange, green, and purple.
I love the thin negative space lines this stencil creates. It really helps to make your colors pop. As those paints dried, I die cut my Extra Large Thank You die from CZ Design and Simon Says Stamp. The top layer is the same black cardstock I used on the rest of the card, and the shadow die was done with vellum. I mounted my two layers on to a black card base.
I love how bold and shiny this card is. It’s really quick to make, and it has a big impact, especially depending on what kind of sentiment you use. I have a bunch of ideas for the Layered Bands stencil set, and I can’t wait to show them to you. I hope you’ll check out the new release from A Colorful Life Designs.
