Hello! Thanks for visiting. The card I’m sharing today is one of my favorites that I’ve made lately. It was not only ridiculously fun to make, but the finished card just makes me so happy. I was inspired by the new Honeycomb Mask from A Colorful Life Designs, and the older Queen Bee (not currently available) stamps from Sweet Sentiment. They work perfectly together. This is my second card using the Honeycomb Mask. You can check out the first one HERE.

I started with the background. I applied some Distress Inks to my glass mat, sprayed them with water, and smooshed my Smooth Bristol cardstock into the colors repeatedly. I used Wild Honey, Scattered Straw, Saltwater Taffy, Fossilized Amber, Mustard Seed, Fired Brick, Shabby Shutters, and Speckled Egg. It’s a lot of colors, I know…but if you look closely, you’ll see them all coming though in different areas of the background. Once that was dry, I laid the Honeycomb Mask down and inked it with more Wild Honey. Before I removed the mask, I laid the older Teeny Honeycomb stencil on top, and added more Wild Honey to some areas. Then I removed both stencils. I loved the bits of Fired Brick and Saltwater Taffy that were coming through, so I used that as the inspiration for my flowers.
Seriously, how great is this bee and floral stamp from Sweet Sentiment? I colored it all with my Zigs, and added just a touch of Scattered Straw ink to the whitespace with the Teeny Honeycomb stencil. I didn’t want to cut that area out, so adding the stencil integrated it to the rest of the card nicely, without it standing out like a sore thumb. I added a very clean “hi” stamp from Simon Says Stamp’s Clean Line XL stamp set with Fallen Leaves VersaFine Clair Ink. My card base is brown, and on top of it I added a combination of Saltwater Taffy Distress Embossing Glaze and Butterscotch Rock Candy from Emerald Creek. It looks like honey!
I’m so happy with this card…I love that background, and the chunkiness of the border. Plus, the stamp is stunning no matter how it’s colored. I hope you like it too!
