Happy August! I am excited to share one of my newest card for A Colorful Life Designs today. The newest release features dogs, cats, and bees! It’s a wonderful mix of patterns and imagery. I was particularly excited about the Layered Bee stencil and the Honeycomb Mask, which are the 2 stencil on my card today.

I found some ridiculously old honey-colored patterned paper that had just the right amount of splatter, color gradation, and interest to work with the Honeycomb Mask. I inked it up with Wild Honey Distress Ink after spraying the back of the mask with Pixie Spray to ensure it was going to stay in place.

For the bee, I inked it with Black Soot Distress Ink on the bottom layer, then I applied a pearlescent paste on the wings, and gold stencil paste on the body. I also added some glitter to the wings. I could have used VersaMark Ink and then embossed the bottom layer with black embossing powder, but I kind of liked the idea that the honeycomb would show though the bee subtly. My sentiment is from Pinkfresh Studio’s My Favorite Things to Say 2.

I’ve said many times before, I love hexagons/honeycombs and bee imagery. So playing with these stencils together was a lot of fun. I have another card coming up later in the month that uses these stencils again, and I think it may be my favorite card of the month. I hope you’ll come back to check it out.
