Hello! Have you been enjoying all of the animal-themed stencils from A Colorful Life Designs this month? I know that I will get a lot of use out of them. Today I have a layered stencil card, but I used the layers slightly differently than they were intended. The stencil set is called Layered Dog Bone Lattice, and it is really versatile.

I used white embossing paste on the bones, which made them nice and glossy first. Next, I used VersaMark Ink on the hearts and heat embossed them with a neon pink powder. The powder stained some of the dog bones, unfortunately, but I didn’t want to scrap the card. Now, there’s also a paw stencil, which is meant to be lined up with the hearts for a layered look. But I shifted the stencil instead, to fit it in between the ends of the bones and inked them with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.
I used an adorable puppy from Mama Elephant’s Lunar Animals stamp set and colored it with Copics. I hand cut a glittery heart and used Annie’s Alphabet dies from Stamp Anniething for my sentiment.
I think this card came out so cute. I like the versatility of these 3 stencils a lot, and I can see them being used for plenty of things, beyond just animal cards. Those bones are perfect for Halloween cards, for example. Please be sure to visit A Colorful Life Designs if you’d like to shop for fantastic stencils.
