Hello! I have a very cool card to share with you today. You could say it’s the “cat’s meow.” I was going through the latest release of Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground, trying to decide which Blend I should work with next, when I noticed “Ring in the Year,” which is filled with black and gold sequins. Very festive. It reminded me of the February 2019 My Monthly Hero Kit from Hero Arts, which has a 1920’s Art Deco Vibe. These two things go perfectly together! Take a look.
I love the art deco style. I had die cut the cover plate die that came in the set a while ago with a satin gold paper, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to make with it. When I got inspired by “Ring in the Year,” I knew it was the perfect thing. I adhered the die cut to a piece of black cardstock, after I had embossed the sentiment in a champagne colored embossing powder from Stampendous. Then, I used an old piece of packaging to wrap the panel, which I secured with double sided adhesive on the back. I filled the pouch with the Sparkle Blend, and then sealed the top. Last, I adhered the panel to a black card base.
Take a close up look at this gorgeous “Ring in the Year” Sparkle Blend. I love the different shades of gold, the unique open shapes (like the black marquise pieces), and the teeny tiny stars. It’s so elegant and chic. There are even little (real!) bells in this Sparkle Blend, but because they have so much dimension, I left them out of this shaker since it’s flat.
I love how quickly this card was made. 1 pass through the die cut machine, some quick embossing, and the rest was just gluing the pieces together and creating the pouch. But it looks like so much work was put into it since that die is so intricate. Have you checked out the full November Sparkle Blend release yet?
