Greetings! Today I am sharing a slimline card that I made for my husband’s birthday, using Stampendous’ Slimline Cake stamp set and the Clearly in Love Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground.

My husband loves red velvet cake. And chocolate cake. Truthfully, he loves pretty much any type of cake, but since his favorite color is red, I opted to do a red, brown and cream color combo on this card. I stacked the cake components a couple of times to get the height I wanted, and then I colored the cake in with Copics.
My husband also really likes shaker cards, so of course this had to become one of those. I opted for Clearly in Love because the cake will still show through the sequins. Clear Blends have an unexpected magic to them….some sequins doesn’t even look like it’s there, then you suddenly see a rainbow flash, which is very cool.
I added a few flat backed red gemstones from my stash because they reminded me of cherries and to add more red into the card. I don’t have slimline dies, so I used a small rectangular die that was the width that I liked, and I partially die cut it from each end of my red cardstock, being careful to not cut all the way through, so that I essentially created my own slimline die. I mounted everything on a cream card base.
This stamp set is perfect for almost anyone’s birthday. I love that you can make the cake as tall as you want, but can also get it to work on a standard A2 sized card. And of course, the Sparkle Blends add a ton of shine and interest to the card. Please be sure to visit the Stampendous Blog for more ideas for this set. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
