Hello! I appreciate you coming to visit today. Yesterday, one of the wonderful crafting FB groups that I’m in dealt with hate from one of it’s members. This person was full of hate, and said some pretty nasty things. I had this card in my head for a while, but yesterday I absolutely needed to make it. I am happy to say that the wonderful admins of the group removed this person, and the group is a safe space, full of love again. This card doesn’t directly coincide with what the woman’s comments were, but the conversation is what spurred the need to complete the idea I had.
When I first got the Free & Brave stamp set from Sassy & Crafty, I knew I needed to alter the flag to make it a Pride flag. Given the situations happening in the country right now, I also decided to use one of the new versions of that flag, which includes the additional 2 stripes at the top. Eventually, I’d like to make a trans flag, and the original Pride flag.
I changed the flag by simply not inking the inner portion, and then drawing in the new stripes. I colored the whole image in with Copics, and I fussy cut it.
I created the background by stamping “brave” repeatedly in my stamping tool with Memento inks from Imagine. I mounted everything on to a white card base that I inked with black.
People often say that they use crafting as a way to escape politics and problems of the world. But this isn’t about politics. This is about love. Loving your true self and whoever else you want. This is also about giving support. Honoring people’s choices. I could go on…. But I’ll leave you with this. If you don’t feel support from your family, or your friends…know that I support you. I am here for you. You are brave. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
