August Sparkle Blend Release Hop

Hello Sparkle Blends Fans! Its that exciting time again! That’s right, its time for our August Release Blog Hop!We have 6 brand new blends for you this month, and the design team has been hard at work creating inspiration projects to share them with you! This collection is perfect for those late summer projects we’re all working on, as well as some sweet pastels for the tiny humans in our lives. This first card was created by Phoenix. Amber, the owner of Doodles Paper Playground, sent him and Rhiannon a big box of fun crafty goodies to use on their projects, and this card is comprised of just some of the things in the box. He really fell in love with the colored-in anchor, as well as the holographic card and mulberry paper. He thought all of these elements worked perfectly with the new “Grapefruit” and “Sweet Boy” Sparkle Blends. His sentiment is from the Nautical Anchor stamp set from Stampendous.

He loved how quickly this card came together. I think it’s a beautiful card with amazing shine and texture.

Rhiannon took more of a clean and simple approach to her card. She made this for my sister’s birthday. You may recall seeing the card Phoenix made for her the other day. If you missed it you can check it out HERE. Rhiannon chose to work with the “Peridot” Sparkle Blend, since it’s the August Birthstone. She stamped and colored the “Cosmos Friend” Cling Stamp set from Stampendous. She colored in and wrote her sentiment with Memento Markers. I love that she added sequins to the centers of the flowers!

You can see just how varied the shades of green are in the “Peridot” Sparkle Blend. Just like actual peridot! I especially love the more satin-finish sequins in this Blend.

This happens to be the birthday card that I made for my sister. I used the super fun Sparkle Blend, called “Awesomesauce.” It has these funny emojis, bright colors, and fun shapes of sequins. This one totally yells, “celebration!” I also used Fluffy Gustav as my focal image. He’s from Useless Trinkets, which is my friend Jessa’s blog. She has some of the cutest digis, and they’re all for free. Please check them out and give her some love. I colored him with Memento Markers. For my background, I used one of the coffee stamps from Ink Road Stamps‘ “Mug Life” set, which is a favorite of mine. I stamped the cups with Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide, and smudged the images while they were still wet. That may or may not have been a mistake. 😉 But I went with it! Then I splattered on some Frayed Burlap, Worn Lipstick, and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide for some more interest. And last, I stenciled a Diagonal Stripe with Twisted Citron directly on my card base. Fluffy Gustav is so adorable, and goes just perfectly with the fun Awesomesauce Sparkle Blend.
