Hello! If you’re new here, my name is Alison Heikkila. Today I am a part of a very special Blog Hop that was created by Justine Hovey, called Papercrafters Unite Against Racism. For this hop, we are standing together, with our sisters and brothers of color, to show support in the never-ending fight for equality. You should have arrived here from Justine’s Blog.
I decided to work with the digital image called “Together” from The Greeting Farm. This image is free at the time of posting, so I highly recommend grabbing it. Don’t forget to thank TGF for their generosity! I colored this wonderful image with Copics. I am starting to get more comfortable with them. They will never replace my Zigs (or watercolor makers/paints in general), but I definitely enjoy using them.
I wanted my background to be simple, yet suggest the look of different skin tones, so I ink blended Antique Linen, Old Paper (which can look a little greenish, but I think it works here), Tea Dye, and Frayed Burlap. Next, I inked up the Diagonal Stripe stencil from Simon Says Stamp in Ground Espresso.
To bring out some of the aqua tones I used when coloring the image, I inked my white card base with Peacock Feather Distress Oxide. I also added a few champagne, brown, and cream colored sequins from Doodles Paper Playground.
Thank you again to Justine for organizing this hop. It is so important to stand against racism. I hope that things begin to change, as I’ve been seeing a lot of hate in the crafting community and it hurts my heart. We are all the same inside. Choose love.
Your next stop in the hop is Ardyth Percy-Robb. If you missed any stops, please head back to Justine’s blog to get all of the details, and to see the full hop list. Thank you so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

I agree with you and what you said is similar to my favorite thing to say in times like these “we are all the same color inside”! Thanks for being a part of this very important hop! Oh, and BTW, your card is super cute and I love all the colors you used on it!

We are all the same on the inside. I hope and pray that one day, people can just accept one another as individuals, and LISTEN to one another! When we are heard, we are all better understood. Very cute card! Thanks for sharing!
