TRHD July Release- Day 1

Greetings! It’s Day 1 of the July release for The Rabbit Hole Designs, and this release is all about Christmas! Today, the Design Team is featuring the Kringle stamp set. This handsome fella comes with a couple of stitched trees, a banner, and some sentiments to make whimsical Christmas cards.

I colored Kringle in shades of coral, pink, and gray with my Copics. I fussy cut him, and my sentiment banner out. I thought I was going to use patterned paper behind him, but I decided to make my own instead of pre-fabricated paper.

You’re getting a sneak peek here….shhhhh!!!! My background? That was made with the new Candy Twist die that will be showcased on Day 3 of the release. But if you take a close look, you’ll see that there were no die cuts actually used on my background. I saw this technique some time ago from Jennifer McGuire, where she die cut shapes out of craft foam and turned them into stamps. The foam accepts ink beautifully (in my case, I used the new Speckled Egg Distress Oxide).

Above, you can see the foam “stamp” I made, which I adhered to my acrylic block temporarily. The die has 3 candies attached, but it’s very easy to line them up to get a longer run of candies.

I stamped the die cut craft foam repeatedly on to my background and then colored the candy with similar shades that I used on Kringle. It was a fast process and I love the end result. I lightly ink blended Speckled Egg Distress Oxide along the edges of my background using one of my new Blending Brushes from The Rabbit Hole. It gave a soft shaded look with a highlighted center. I layered pink cardstock on to my card base, and I added a few sequins from the “Broken Glass” Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground.

I had so much fun making this card. I enjoy using non-traditional colors for Christmas, and making that background was honestly a blast.
