Hello! Today is the start of a very exciting collaboration between Doodles Paper Playground and Stampendous! I am really proud to be a part of both of these amazing teams, so to see them come together is really special for me. Phoenix, Rhiannon, and I each have a project to share with you today and tomorrow for this collaboration hop, so that’s 6 projects from us! In addition, the other DT members from both teams are playing along too, of course, so you’ll have a ton of inspiration by the end of the weekend. The theme for the hop is Holiday.
This is my first project for the hop. I used the WindowRama Dies to create this card. The WindowRama Dies are a lot of fun because you can customize it however you like. I chose to use Bo Bunny patterned cardstock. It’s double sided, so no matter where you look, you’ll see a fun pattern.
I love that this type of card gives you a lot of dimension on the inside that you can really play with. You have a lot of room to add several layers, though in this case I chose to only do one. I used the Cardinal Bell House Mouse stamp inside the Windowrama, which I colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens, and I attached an Action Wobbler to it so that the bird and mouse can actually move. I’ll have a video on my Instagram to show you how it moves.
I chose to use the Candy Cane Sparkle Blend on this card because I knew the colors would just pop on my card base. I love the mix of regular sequins, along with glitter and pearlized sequins. To make my “Merry” word die (from the Christmas Bright stamp and die set) sparkle, I used Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Gold from Imagine, and painted it on, instead of spritzing it.
This is Phoenix’s first card for the hop. He really loved the Buck Scene stamp and he started off by coloring the stamp directly with Tombow Dual Brush markers. When he made his impression on cardstock, he thought it was a little too light, so he decided to recolor the entire image, directly on the cardstock, essentially giving the stamped image another layer of color. I think he did a terrific job! It looks like he drew it, so it’s got a no-line coloring feel to it.
He cut the Buck Scene out and left it aside, while he used a Tim Holtz woodgrain stencil on a cream card base. He applied Old Paper Distress Oxide with a blending brush.
Phoenix used a combination of the Emerald Sparkle Blend along with Gingerbread Man. I think he absolutely captured the “Rustic Sparkle” look I’ve been mentioning here lately.
Stampendous’ WindowRama Snowflake Chipboard kit comes with this very pretty snowflake. Rhiannon thought it would be a lot of fun to decorate it with embossing powders and Sparkle Blends so that we can hang it on our tree.
First, she applied VersaMark ink to one side of the snowflake. Then she sprinkled on Frantage Shabby Blue Embossing Enamels and began to heat set it from underneath. As the powder started to melt, she moved the heat tool to the top side of the snowflake. She melted the powder in this manner because the Frantage Embossing Enamels have several sizes of powder and glitter in it. They don’t all melt at the same time, and some of the chunkier powder doesn’t stick very well to VersaMark ink. So if you heat from below first, you begin to get a layer of melted powder that will then keep the larger particles in place.
After the first side cooled, she flipped over the snowflake, applied VersaMark, and this time, she sprinkled on Shabby Pink Embossing Enamel. Again, she began to heat set the powder from underneath, but she had to be careful to not over heat the Shabby Blue Side.
She then applied two different colors of confetti sequins from the Sweet Boy Sparkle Blend. It may be a little tough to see the different shades of blue, but the differences are more obvious in person. She adhered the sequins with On Point Glue from Imagine.
On the pink side, she opted to use the Precious Girl Sparkle Blend. She chose small pink glitter sequins this time, and boy…do they shine! We may actually need to hang this snowflake up in a window so that it can spin and show off it’s sparkle.
We’ve got 3 wonderful prize packages up for grabs during this hop! They include one Stampendous Holiday themed stamp set and one pack each of the two Windowrama kits (card & Chipboard) and 3 full size packs of Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground. The value is around $30! So please be sure to comment on everyone’s blogs between 11/15/2019-11/17-2019. PLUS!!! White Rose Crafts (the exclusive retailer for Sparkle Blends) is offering a whopping 30% off Sparkle Blends when you use the code: “SPLURGE 30” and you’ll get a free gift with your order too!

The mouse on the cardinal was great, but that
deer head is spectacular. My son is a hunter

Love Rhiannon’s pretty snowflake ornaments. I love using embossing powder like
that, too. Phoenix’s card is wonderfully masculine awesome. And I love the windowrama
card – the mouse hitching a ride with the cardinal is sooo cute.

Great projects. What a talented family. Using the patterned paper to cut out the deer head– very creative. The ornament is lovely and making it double sided is perfect as they always turn around on the tree. The first card is lovely and combines my two favorite things as I love cute mice and cardinals.
