Autumn Magic is in the Air

Hello! The Small Die of the Month from Spellbinders is absolutely adorable, and I was really excited to work with it. It has a sweet owl, leaves, a tree stump, and a mushroom to help you create wonderful little scenes.

First, I die cut and put together my owl and the tree stump. I did a few touches of ink blending on them, but it was minimal. Next, I decided I wanted the stump to be sitting within a mound of leaves, so I took some time to die cut a whole bunch. I only used 3 styles of the leaves, but there are several more in the set.

Next I worked on my background. I used Chipped Sapphire and Uncharted Marnier on Smooth Bristol Cardstock. I inked my Glassboard Studios Glass Mat, spritzed it with water, and dipped my cardstock into it. I dried that layer, then did it again to create depth. I inked the edges with additional Chipped Sapphire for a vignette look. Next, I splattered on my “stars” with Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bleed Proof White. I highly recommend getting a bottle of that. You use so little, the bottle could last you forever. And as you can see, it doesn’t take on the color of the Distress Inks.

Next, I formed my mound of leaves around my tree stump and adhered everything down, tucking in 3 mushrooms. My sentiment is from the September Clear Stamp & Die of the Month and I used the same inks to color it as I did in my background.

I was having a hard time concentrating because my Ehlers Danlos Syndrome was flaring, so doing simple die cutting was really helpful to me, because it kept my mind off the pain.
