Hello! Today I’m sharing my first card using the Hero Arts April 2026 My Monthly Hero Kit, called Plant Lady Society. I LOVE this kit because I’m a gardener, and I simply adore plants. I went with minimal supplies on this card for a clean and simple look, and I tried a new effect that I really love.

I started by stamping my chosen plant with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then coloring it with Copics. I used BG’s and BV’s. I love that the kit comes with coordinating dies for everything, so it was a snap to cut out. To tie into the colors of the planter, I used a blending brush with Serene Ink from Catherine Pooler to make a kinda-circular shape on my white cardstock. I wanted the color to be dulled down a bit, so I used an old cool gray ink from Altenew on top. Then I splattered some water on the ink to make it react. I also added my sentiment which I inked with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink.

I cut my panel much smaller than I usually do… 3.5″ x 4.75.” I wanted a wide border this time. As I was making the card, I had the idea that I wanted to give sort of a back-lit effect of color behind my focal panel. I usually just ink the edges of my card base, and I love that look, but I wanted to try something different, so I came up with this back-lit idea. I used the same two colors of ink that I used on my focal panel and inked a rectangle on my card base, making sure I didn’t go all the way to the edge. I kept using my focal panel to check and make sure I had enough color. Then I popped up the panel and my plant with 1mm foam tape. I love the soft wash of color and how it’s peeking through from behind the main layer. I’ll definitely need to do this again.

There are so many fun stamps and dies in this kit, and even more if you opt to purchase the My Monthly Super Hero. I can’t wait to make more cards using it. I hope you’ll look forward to seeing more.
