Hello! Today I’m sharing two cards that use the same stencil, but look really different. I made monoprints on my Gel Press Plate using acrylic paint, and it’s so cool to see how different they can be, depending on the technique. I used the Spotlight Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs, which is great for so many occasions.

You may have seen some of the other monoprints I’ve made this month. I made almost all of them in the same session as these. I really needed to throw some paint around, and I love how they all turned out.

I made this print first. I had lots of that yummy red on the first layer of the print. I brayered out some Prussian Blue onto my plate, laid the stencil on top, and used the red print to grab the ink from the negative space of the stencil. So this was the first print made with the Spotlight Stencil.

This print is the ghost print of the first pull. So, there was still Prussian Blue on my plate after I removed the stencil, and I used shades of teal to pull it. This one looks like it has so much texture, but it’s flat. It’s all because of the stencil being on top when I pulled the first print.

Back to the red card. I grabbed the Noteworthy Stamp Set from Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous and inked my sentiment with Twilight VersaFine Clair Ink. Then I tore the bottom and rounded the other two edges. I also inked it with some red Catherine Pooler inks. I added a thin border of Twilight Ink to my card base and I added some Glossy White Stars Card Bling from A Colorful Life Designs. I splattered some Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bleed Proof White on the monoprint too.

I really like the definition of the lines on this card. Conversely, I love how blurred and dimensional they are on the other card.

I used the Noteworthy Stamp Set again, but this time with VersaMark Ink and white embossing powder directly on the monoprint. I added some white splatter to this card as well, and I added some Gotham Grey Card Bling. I kept the card base white.

I love both of these cards, and I don’t know if I could pick a favorite. How about you? Please visit the A Colorful Life Designs website to see the thousands of available stencils.
