Hello and happy March! Today I’ve got the A Colorful Life Designs new release here on my blog and my YouTube channel, but I really wanted to post some projects as well, so I decided to share not one, but two cards using the new My Monthly Super Hero Kit from Hero Arts, called Milk It. I love this kit so much! It’s adorable and fun and has cookies!!!

The first card I made had to include the chocolate chip cookies, because that’s my favorite kind of cookie. Homemade, a little soft, and still warm from the oven. Mmmmm…..and my daughter makes them perfectly! Anyway, I made 3 cookies with shades of brown cardstock, and glued them together. They’re pretty quick to make. Next, I made my glass of milk and the straw. I used vellum for the glass, and glossy white cardstock for the milk and bubbles. I don’t think the glossy cardstock is really necessary, because once it’s in the glass, it’s hard to tell it has shine. I fed the straw through the glass and the bubbles to make it look as realistic as possible, and I think it turned out great!

My sentiment was inked with Rouge Ink from Catherine Pooler then I used the coordinating die to cut it out. Can I just say, I LOVE how detailed this die is! How it cuts out such tiny, perfect sections and really makes this sentiment stand out in the best possible way. I didn’t want that detail to go unnoticed, so I mounted everything onto a piece of black cardstock. I hand drew some lines with a white gel pen to give it a little more interest, and then I mounted it all onto a white card base. It’s worth noting that I made my black mat smaller than I usually do…an 1/8″ smaller on each side because I thought (for once) it would be really nice to have a thick white border.

For my second card, I wanted to have the same milk glass minus the straw, and use the other cookies in that same die set. They’re sandwich cookies and I cut the cookie out of black cardstock and the cream out of white. Then I cut the milk container with the open spout (you have the option to make a closed spout too!) with white, red, and a touch of ivory cardstock (the back of the spout). I stamped the cow, the circles, and the “milk” with VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne, then I heat embossed all of those pieces with black embossing powder for shine and a little dimension. The “milk” is part of a larger sentiment and I just cut away what I didn’t need. I used a couple of Copics to add colored details to the cow.

For my background, I used the cow print stencil that’s in the kit with Lost Shadow Distress Ink. Then I heat embossed my sentiment the same way I created the cow and other elements on the milk container. I mounted all of this onto a black card base. When I write it out to someone, I can use either a gel pen on the black cardstock or add a piece of white cardstock inside.

I have a feeling the Super Hero Kit is going to sell out fast, so if you like what you see here, I highly recommend grabbing it asap. The value is amazing, and there’s lots of products I didn’t use on these cards that can also make amazing cards. I’ll be sharing more soon. Please visit Hero Arts to see everything that’s in the My Monthly Hero Kit and the My Monthly Super Hero Kit. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
