Greetings! I combined a really pretty stencil called Close Up Branches from A Colorful Life Designs with an older die set from Spellbinders for my traditional-feel Christmas Card today. Some texture and shine really make it snazzy.

I gessoed a piece of textbook paper and then I applied green Gelatos on top. I spritzed them with water, and blended the colors together with my fingers. After it was dry, I sprayed it with a Workable Fixative so that the colors wouldn’t smudge. Then I applied VersaFine Clair Ink in Spruce through the stencil and used clear embossing powder on top.

Next, I die cut some pieces from Spellbinders Festive Ornament Die Set. I used a pretty plaid, red and gold cardstock, plus a white glitter cardstock. I “hung” the ornament with baker’s twine. I also did a bit of detail coloring on the bow to give it the look of more dimension. My sentiment is from Spellbinders’ Starry Merry Christmas BetterPress & Die Set. I used Spruce VersaFine Clair Ink for that as well.

The Close Up Branches stencil is a perfect backdrop for the ornament. You can really use any type of ornament…die cut, colored, etc. Please be sure to visit Spellbinders to see all of the latest releases.
