Hello! The new Chimney Caper Stamp and Die Cutting Set from Spellbinders is intended to have a chimney on a roof with Santa’s bottom half stuck in the chimney. I have to be honest….this isn’t my favorite way to see Santa. So I decided to use some of the parts differently and instead of a chimney, I created a full fireplace, with Santa lithely dropping down, instead of being stuck, to deliver some toys.

I started by making 4 of the chimneys, as well as building Santa. After more thinking than I’d like to admit, I decided to trim off the bump out of the chimney “tops” on the sides that would eventually be in the middle of my fireplace. This way, there was no overlap. Then, I decided how big I wanted my fireplace opening to be. Once I figured that out, by using Santa’s body as a guide, I trimmed the inner pieces of the 4 chimneys to leave me with a hole in the middle when I put the outer edges back together. Then I backed them with black, and used Therm O Web’s 3mm Black Foam Tape to pop the pieces up.
Next, I added Santa. I used 1mm Black Foam Strips from Scrapbook.com for him. I also popped up my sentiment, which I stamped onto gray cardstock with Nocturne Ink, fussy cut loosely, and then inked the edges a bit with Evening Gray Ink from Altenew.

My fireplace took up quite a bit of space on my horizontal A2 card, so I just wanted a simple floor and wallpaper, plus a piece of molding. My wallpaper is from the Spellbinders Merry Moments Cardmaking Kit. The floor is just Kraft cardstock, which I inked with the residual ink on my brown blending brush. Then I added a strip of cream cardstock for my molding. The fireplace needed to be the star of the show, and I didn’t want to add other things to my scene to take away from that.

I am so happy with how this turned out. I love that Santa is just coming down the chimney instead of being stuck. It was fun to figure out the best way to make this all work, and I am so glad I took the time to do it. Please visit Spellbinders to see all of the latest releases. Thanks so much for stopping by.
