Hello! Today I am sharing two cards that use the Scattered Shells BetterPress Plate from Hero Arts. I went for two very different looks, and I’d love to know which version you’d want to try. One uses vibrant pastels reminiscent of a sunset, and the other is very earthy and neutral, with kind of a fossilized look.

The first version I made was inspired by a sunset. There were so many beautiful colors that I saw, and I really wanted to capture it on a card. First, I used the Scattered Shells BetterPress Plate with Warm Breeze VersaFine Clair Ink. Then I inked the panel with It’s a Girl, Oh Boy, and Bellini Ink from Catherine Pooler. After that, I splattered the panel with Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Frost and trimmed it down with my Tonic Deckle Edge Trimmer.

I used the Banner Days Stamp & Cut for my sentiment. The banners were inked with Summertime VersaFine Clair, and the words were done with Bali Blue VersaFine Clair. I added some Opalescent Peony Bling from A Colorful Life Designs diagonally down the card, and I added it to a white card base.

For my second card, I wanted to go earthy. I have to be honest, when I made this, I was on a Zoom call with some of my crafty friends, and I can’t recall if I used an ink on the BetterPress Plate or not. I think I skipped it, because I knew I wanted to try a color lift technique. But if I did use an ink, it was light in color. Then, I went over the panel with Walnut Stain, Gathered Twigs, Vintage Photo, and Black Soot Distress Oxides. Next, I used a brush and water to go over only the shells, to oxidize the ink and life the color. It looked terrible at first, but as I kept going and the paper dried, it gave me a great effect.

I left the panel a full 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2.” I added a different sentiment from the Banner Days Stamp & Cut and inked the sentiment with Pinecone VersaFine Clair. I used some residual brown ink from my blending brushes to the edges of the banners. Next I added a few Satin Matte Gold Bling from A Colorful Life Designs.

I love how different these cards look, even though I used the same BetterPress Plate. Please be sure to check out the rest of the Summer By the Shore Collection from Hero Arts. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
