Greetings! I love the Starry Night Embossing Folder and coordinating stencil from Simon Hurley and Spellbinders. At first, I was a little worried about how I’d use it on A2 or A7 cards because of it’s slimline format, but then I realized it would be fun to layer it, and that’s what I did for today’s card.

I started by embossing and die cutting a sheet of navy blue cardstock. Then I used the coordinating stencils with Broken China Distress Oxide, Silvery Shimmer Delicata Ink, and then Salty Ocean Distress Oxide. The next layer was done with a deep turquoise cardstock, and I used Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink, the Silvery Shimmer Delicata again, and last was Prize Ribbon Distress Ink. The final embossed layer was made with teal cardstock. I used Prize Ribbon Distress Ink, Silvery Shimmer Delicata, and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. The colors are beautiful and the embossed texture is so fabulous in person.

I kicked those layers to the left of my 5×7 card base, and inked the open edge with Salvaged Patina Distress Ink. I pulled out the Shine Bright Die Set and cut the letters with the navy cardstock and the shadow was done with the teal. I used Sheer Shimmer Stix in Sparkle on the letters. Last, I added Luminous Oasis Card Bling from A Colorful Life Designs around the sentiment.

This isn’t something I’ve done with my embossing folders before, but now that I have a few that come with a die for the edge, I’m going to need to do it again. I think the effect is so cool!
