Hello! Today’s card features the previously released Bold Angles stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. It’s a 6×9″ stencil, so I was able to make two panels from it. I’ll share my other card using the second half soon. I wanted to make a birthday card using a color combination that I don’t usually work with. I thought the combo was interesting, and I do like it. I’m curious if you like it too.

I started with a monoprint made with a page from a math workbook and acrylic paints. I used a silver embossing paste with the Bold Angles stencil and let it dry. Once it dried, I cut the piece in half to give me my two panels. Because the workbook paper is thin, I mounted it onto a piece of cardstock for stability. The monoprint had shades of deep blue and olive green. so that was the jumping off point for my color scheme.
To turn this into a birthday card, I die cut the gift from the Tim Holtz & Sizzix Celebrate Colorize Die Set. I used a few colors from the Daybreak Paper Pad from Scrapbook.com and some scrap olive green cardstock that had been sprayed with a metallic mist a long time ago. My sentiment was made with the Everyday Alphabet Dies from Avery Elle. I matted the top panel with more of the sprayed olive green cardstock and I inked my card base with Prize Ribbon Distress Ink.
At first I was unsure about these colors, but I really do like them together now. I’m trying to break out of my usual palettes and try new ones.
