Greetings! A Colorful Life Designs released a couple of stencils this month that have a coffee and Christmas theme. My card today uses one of the sentiments from the Christmas Coffee stencil, which is 6×9, and has 4 sentiments, plus a mug on it. I’ll be entering this card into the Fall/Winter Coffee Loving Papercrafters Hop.

I rummaged through the Coffee paper pad from Echo Park and found this chalkboard-like patterned paper. I really liked the style (funny, since I just did THIS video) so I thought that was a good starting point. I decided to use black cardstock and heat emboss my stenciled sentiment in white. I used a sponge dauber to apply VersaMark Ink through the stencil, then applied the embossing powder and heat set it. I trimmed it to fit on my mug background.
I really wanted a large cup that coordinated well with the mugs on the paper, and I found one from n old Erin Lee Creative coffee kit. It was perfect, so I heat embossed it just like I did the sentiment. No need for coloring this time! Since my mug paper was small, I needed something behind it, and I didn’t want to just use ink. I was looking for something swirly, like steam, and I found this red paper from Echo Park‘s Christmas Magic paper pad. It was just perfect. For some shine, I used the Crystal Iris Cranberry Card Bling from A Colorful Life Designs in a few spots, and adhered them with On Point Glue.
I love that I got to use some patterned paper and that it haves that cool chalkboard look that apparently I’m into lately. It’s not super holiday, but let’s be honest…the coffee is the main theme for this card anyway. Please head over to the A Colorful Life Designs website to see the thousands of available stencils.
