Greetings! Today I’m using the Pumpkin Stack stencil from A Colorful Life Designs to make a shaker card. I got to use an alcohol ink panel I had in my stash for some time, plus a Lawn Fawn de set I haven’t used nearly enough.

My alcohol ink panel looks like it was made with Eggplant and Stonewashed. I can’t recall the blue for sure, because I made this piece a while ago. It was done on photo paper, which isn’t the best substrate for alcohol inks, but I like to experiment with it sometimes. And when you hide a lot of the panel, as I did here, it can hide some of the things you don’t like about it.
I used VersaMark Ink through the stencil and then applied Carnelian embossing powder for the pumpkins. The photo paper tends to crack when it’s heated, but that effect definitely works for a Halloween card. It looks kinda like lightning. I went over the pumpkins with the Jack ‘O Lantern faces and hat with VersaMark again, and then used black embossing powder.
To turn this into a scene, I grabbed Lawn Fawn’s Spooky Forest Backdrop. I die cut the trees out of black, the headstones out of gray, the moon out of yellow, and the ghost out of white cardstock. I did a bit of inking on these pieces just to add more interest. For example, I swiped Old Paper Distress Oxide on the tombstones for a mossy look. I turned this into a shaker with some foam tape and acetate, and added Black Iridescent Card Bling inside.
It’s a little spooky but not too creepy, and the shaker element makes it fun. Please head over to the A Colorful Life Designs website to see the thousands of available stencils.
