According to Wednesday

Greetings! The start of September means it’s officially spooky season in my world. So today’s card is perfect for that. The stencil I used on today’s card is one of my favorites from the September release from A Colorful Life Designs. It’s called According to Wednesday, and you not only have a stenciled image of Wednesday, but you also have a bunch of great sentiments. I wanted to do a black on black card, and it was so much fun to make.

I found an old piece of DCWV cardstock that had a deep gray on gray herringbone pattern, which was the perfect way to start this card. Then I applied Wednesday’s image to the cardstock with Glossy Black embossing paste. After I let that dry, I applied the sentiment below her.

I wanted to add more to the card, so I grabbed the new Spooky Web stencil, which is also from the September release from A Colorful Life Designs, and applied that with Black Soot Distress Ink. Of course, I couldn’t keep my card base white, and I didn’t want to just go with a flat black, so I applied VersaMark around the edges, then heat embossed black embossing powder, which gave a textural, shiny edge.

I’m really pleased with how this turned out. I like that it’s kinda hard to see (at least in real life) and then when the light hits it you can really see the details. The According to Wednesday and Spooky Web stencils are really great, and I’m sure I’ll be using it again soon.
