Boo! Today’s card is a Halloween card that uses some of the new Vault Halloween dies from Sizzix and Tim Holtz. I’d like to thank Scrapbook.com for sending me 3 of the new Vault sets. I absolutely love working with them. I created a collage style card today using lots of die cuts. It’s not really a collage, as I don’t have lots of papers and ephemera overlapping, but with the background I made, it has the look of a collage.

To start off, I cut and glued a bunch of the skull and cross bones together from the Vault Coffin Box set. I made more than I needed because I wasn’t sure how many I’d use, but now I have extras for another time. I used Scrapbook.com’s Black & White Mixed Media Paper for this. The stripe on the hat was done with Wilted Violet Distress Oxide and applied with a brush. I also die cut a couple of spider webs from the Vault Fright Night set and the “boo” from the Vault Gothic Portraits set.
I did a bunch of ink smooshing on the White Mixed Media Paper using Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo, and Ground Espresso Distress Oxides. Once I was happy with the background, I used the Woodgrain Layering Stencil from Tim Holtz with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Then I inked the edges with Walnut Stain, and Black Soot Distress Inks. I also touched the side of my Walnut Stain pad here and there on the panel to create scratch marks. I also sprinkled some Bundled Sage Distress Embossing Glaze here and there (heating it from underneath the panel so the powder wouldn’t blow away) for some texture and grungy shine. On my card base, I inked the edges with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Then I glued all of my die cuts to the main panel.
It was so fun putting all of these elements together. I love the top hats on the skulls and how the background turned out. If you haven’t seen all of the Vault releases from Tim Holtz and Sizzix, head on over to Scrapbook.com to check them out. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
