Greetings! I’m really excited for today’s card, not only because of the cool stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs, but also because I used a digi stamp from The Ocotopode Factory, which is a company I loved. Sadly the owner, Lily, passed away several years ago. Using her digis helps me to honor her memory.

The stencil I used is called Mid Century Atomic Teardrops, and it is so cool. There are many mid century themed stencils this month, and this is one of my favorites. I chose a Gel Press print that had a patinaed look to it, and used a gold embossing paste through the Atomic Teardrops stencil. My Steampunk Boy #1 from The Octopode Factory was colored with Copics and then fussy cut.
I needed some type of barrier to break up the background from where I was putting Steampunk Boy. Vellum is a great choice, but it needed more impact, so I opted to emboss it with the Tim Holtz Foundry Embossing Folder from Sizzix. It was just what I needed. I attached the vellum with staples because it looks cool, and they’re meant to be shown. Vellum adhesive rarely works well and is often still visible. So using something meant to be seen is my preferred way of adhering it. Then, I die cut the CZ Design and Simon Says Stamp “Dude” die from gold foiled paper. I popped up the panel with foam tape and mounted it onto a brown card base that I had swiped with Golden Glitz Delicata Ink from Imagine.
I love how this came out. And I particularly love that I got to use one of Lily’s digis. Please be sure to visit A Colorful Life Designs to see the many, many stencils they have to offer.
