Hello! Back in April of last year, I shared THIS video on how to use patterned paper with some layering stencils from A Colorful Life Designs. I really love doing this technique, even without the shaker window. Spellbinders just released a new collection called Bayfair by Rosie’s Studios and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to make another card in this fashion.

I received the 6×6 Designer Paper Pad in this collection so I thumbed through it to decide which patterns I wanted to use on my card. I also have the Die Cut Ephemera Sentiments so I knew I wanted my focal patterns to not be hidden by whichever I chose. To create this effect easily, I used the Layered Wavy Lines Stencils from A Colorful Life Designs. I traced the shapes from the stencils onto the back of each of my chosen patterned papers and then fussy cut them out.
Then I chose my sentiment. I loved that large circle, especially since part of the sentiment is foiled with gold. The patterned papers got lost on a white background, so I found a soft, warm yellow in my stash and used that to attach all of my cut papers. I used some Foam Dots from Uniquely Creative to attach my sentiment because the profile of their foam is low, and I didn’t want it to stand too proud of the card.
I love making these types of cards because I get to use up some of my very large stash of patterned paper, they’re quick and easy, and they look really great when they’re finished. A stack of these would make a great gift for a teacher, nurse, etc. Please be sure to visit A Colorful Life Designs to see the many, many stencils they have to offer.
