Hello! The latest release from Simon Hurley and Spellbinders is just beautiful. It’s a stunning collection of tulip themed products, and I am smitten with them all. Today, I’m working with the Tulip Trio Etched Die Set. It’s just so pretty.

I thought it would be fun to use patterned paper for all of the components. I went through a bunch of my simplistic patterns (stripes, polka dots, plaids, etc.) and came up with a bunch of fun ones. From My Favorite Things, I used the Summertime Polka Dots for the flowers. That paper pad is no longer available but THIS one is very similar. To add some dimension and interest to the flowers, I inked them with Distress Inks. For the purple one, I used Dusty Concord, Wild Honey, and Picked Raspberry. From Lawn Fawn, I used the Watercolor Wishes for the foliage and stems. Because of the variation of color on the paper, I didn’t feel the need to ink blend on these pieces.
For my background, I used Lawn Fawn’s Stripes and Sprinkles paper pad for the yellow stripe and the Gotta Have Gingham pad for the lavender. I die cut the gingham with an oval die from Stampendous’ Fran’s Frames die set, which is available through Spellbinders. I inked the edge of that with Dusty Concord Distress Ink. I die cut my sentiment from another new release item from Simon Hurley and Spellbinders, the Handwritten Sentiments die set. I used the pink polka dot paper for the shadow layer, and plain white cardstock for the focal layer. I inked my card base with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.
This is such a pretty card. I love all of the subtle patterned papers, and the cheery, spring colors. My bulbs are all starting to pop out of the ground, and I am so excited that spring is almost here. Do you plant tulips? Be sure to visit Spellbinders to see the full new release for March. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
