Hello! I’ve got a funky BoHo Happy Birthday card today, which is actually the name of the stencil I used from A Colorful life Designs. I love that this stencil can take up an entire card front if used altogether, but you can also isolate certain areas to change things up. My card today uses the stencil in it’s entirety.

I found a cool roll off print (created during a gel print making session) that had shades of orange and yellow on it. Since this stencil has a 70’s vibe to it, I wanted to go with warm tones, so the background was a great starting point. I taped the stencil on top and with cosmetic sponges, I applied several colors of VersaFine Clair Ink from Imagine. The flowers were done with Summertime, Tulip Red, and Cheerful. The arches and dots were done with Shady Lane and Rainforest, and I inked the sentiment with Chianti.
VersaFine Clair Inks are a pigment ink, so they stay wet for a while. I took advantage of this and heat embossed the panel with a clear powder to give it shine and texture. You can see that in the photo above. For additional shine, I grabbed my Starry Colors watercolors from Kuretake and painted the edge of my card base.
I really like this card. I think it’s fun and whimsical. It’s pretty quick to make, especially if you decide to use the entire stencil. My gal pal Amy made THIS version which I think is fantastic.
