Greetings! Today I am using a simple layering stencil from A Colorful Life Designs to make a pretty holiday card. The Layered Holly Sprig stencil is 6×9, so both layers are on one stencil. It’s easy to line up the design, and quick to mask areas off, if you choose to.

I used a piece of Neenah Desert Storm cardstock, which I die cut with the largest die in the Gina Marie Designs Double Stitched In and Out Cut Rectangle Dies. This leaves me with a thin border of my card base showing so that I can add additional color. On the cardstock, I stenciled the Layered Holly Sprig using Distress Inks in Rustic Wilderness, Gathered Twigs, and Lumberjack Plaid.
I wanted some shine…no, a lot of shine, so I splattered on two of the golds in the Kuretake Starry Colors watercolor set. The shine is really incredible. For my sentiment, I grabbed a new-to-me die set from Creative Expressions. It’s from the Festive Collection and it’s called Wishes, but I can’t find it on their website. It comes with the “wishes” die, a small rectangular die, and a sub-sentiment stamp set, which is where the Yuletide is from. I made the sentiments out of a cream cardstock and ink blended some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink around the edges to give them some depth. On my card base I inked the perimeter with Lumberjack Plaid.
Every year, I gravitate towards making a bunch of, what I like to call, Rustic Elegance holiday cards…and I think this falls into that category. I like that this card is very flat, so it’s easy to mail, and the shine from those splatters can’t be beat.
