Hello! You know I love using stencils, but I really, really love masks as well. Masks don’t have a border around the edges like stencils do. It allows for a continuous pattern, or having open or complete edges, depending on the mask. A Colorful Life Designs has many masks available, and they’re used exactly the same way as stencils. My card today uses the Interlocking Squares Mask.

I added some Distress Inks to my Gel Press Plate (to be completely honest, I have no idea what happened to my reference sheet that lists the products I used….so you’ll have to guess at the colors I used. But I’m pretty sure there’s Scattered Straw and Carved Pumpkin in there.), rolled them out with my brayer, and then laid the mask on top. I pulled a print, removing most of the excess ink around the mask. Then I removed the mask, and pulled a ghost print. You can see along the bottom of this layer there are lines…I used some corrugated cardboard to get that effect.
I often like to color random stamped/digital images for relaxation and to create a stockpile. The gal there is a digi from The Greeting Farm, called Joyce. Unfortunately, she’s no longer available. I had colored her with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in earthy tones, not knowing when I’d use her; but she worked perfectly with this Gel Press print. In addition, I had some scraps I made with Gelatos, so for the green I die cut “hello” and it’s shadow layer using a set from Stamp Anniething. The other piece I kept just as a strip for more color and interest.
It’s fun to go through scraps and things you may have colored months ago and put them together with something brand new. I like having a stockpile of things to choose from. It’s actually time I had some long coloring sessions, as I’m starting to run low. Please be sure to visit A Colorful Life Designs to see the many, many stencils they have to offer. You can use my code, AlFan10 to save 10% off of your regular-priced purchase. Then, show off your creations in the A Colorful Life Designs Fan Group on FB. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
