Hello! I used part of a really unique stencil on today’s card. It’s called Lined Leaves, and it’s from A Colorful Life Designs. To see the full stencil, click HERE. I used only the foliage portion this time. Let me walk you through the process.

First, I took some old book paper and ink blended the leaves on it with Twisted Citron and Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink. When I removed the stencil, I added Mustard Seed on top, but in a haphazard way. Then I cut the leaves out and set the piece aside so I could work on the background.
I played with a few sprays on Smooth Bristol Cardstock from Strathmore. I used Distress Spray Stain in Lumberjack Plaid and Crackling Campfire, as well as Dylusions Spray in Lemon Zest and Cut Grass. While it dried, I die cut the You are Incredible die from Erin Lee Creative (no longer available) out of yellow and burgundy cardstock. I adhered it to the panel, along with the stenciled leaves. To get the leaves to stand out more, I used G29 and YG17 Copic Markers around the border to create a shadow. I used the residual ink from my yellow blending brush on the edges of the white card base.
I think this came out pretty funky. I like the clean lines of the leaves, along with the splattered background. The shadowing around the leaves helps to break things up so your eye has a moment to rest. Please be sure to visit A Colorful Life Designs to see the many, many stencils they have to offer.
