Alas…it’s the fist day of school here and I am a sad Mom. I love when my kids are home and as much as I love the Fall, I mourn the loss of our long summer days together. It’s never long enough, but I guess school has to start eventually, right? Meh. To help me feel better, I made my kids cards that I tucked into their lunches this morning. Today, I am sharing the card I made for Rhiannon. I used the Gnome Drive: Graduation die set from Spellbinders, and it came out really cute.

I think the apple in the Gnome Drive Graduation set is just adorable. I love that they can wear glasses, hold the pencil, and that you can add color to the cheeks and mouth. I thought Rhiannon would like this little apple so after I die cut the pieces and glued them together, I went in search for some patterned paper.
I came across Echo Park’s Back to School 6×6 Paper Pad, and I knew it was perfect. There are a lot of great papers in this collection, but I only used 2. I tore a piece of the pencils for the bottom and I used the lined paper for my focal layer. I hand wrote “Good Luck” and gave it a thin black border. I wanted more red to make the apple pop more, so I used the same cardstock for the back layer. I mounted it all on to a white card base, which I actually kept white this time.
I didn’t even use any ink on this card! Crazy! I did add a couple of detail lines on to the pencil with a Signo white gel pen. I love how cute this card is, and I think that little apple is pretty encouraging! I hope you’ll check out the whole Spellbinders Gnome Drive collection…even if gnomes aren’t your thing. There are a whole lot of great dies in each of the sets, and it’s easy to make great cards without any gnomes or cars at all. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
