Greetings! Yesterday, I shared the card I made for my daughter’s first day of school. Today, I am sharing the card I made for my son. My kids watch Star Trek pretty much every week with my mom, and they love it. They watch everything in order (even the cartoon!), and it’s a special time for the 3 of them. Since I have the Space Explorers stamp set from Kindred Stamps, I knew it would be perfect for Phoenix’s card.

I chose the stamp of his favorite character and colored him with Copics. I really like the bold symbol in the set, so I repeatedly stamped it on to navy blue cardstock with VersaMark Ink and then heat embossed them with gold. I didn’t like how the character looked just floating on the background, so I needed to “ground” him somehow.
I pulled out Lawn Fawn’s Reverse Stitched Scallop Circle dies and die cut the medium size with a turquoise blue cardstock that matched the character’s shirt. These dies don’t cut the outer circle (which makes them perfect for shaker cards) so I found a circle die that was a good size and cut the piece out. I used the same circle die on a piece of vellum, to further ground my character but to keep the background showing a bit. I thought the turquoise was too overpowering, so I used my black Copic to color up to the stitching. For my sentiment, I inked it with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink on the same turquoise cardstock and die cut it with an old Avery Elle banner die set called “Pierced Banner.” I used a dark blue Copic around the border of this. I mounted it all on to a white card base.
I’m writing this post after Phoenix has seen the card, and I am happy to report that he really loved it. I’m glad I got to break out this stamp set and make him something fun for the first day of school. Tomorrow, I’ll have a new YouTube video for Imagine, and guess what? It’s NOT a card! I hope you’ll join me tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
