Hello! Today’s card won’t be for everyone. In fact, it won’t be something most of you would make however, it’s perfect for my family. The new Blowout stencil from A Colorful Life Designs was one I immediately knew I needed because it has a big Maltese Cross right in the middle of it. Now, I am quite sure that’s not what Mary Kay intended, but it’s what I saw, so I knew I needed to make a card that highlighted it because, my family is Maltese.
I took some white cardstock and applied some Pixie Spray to the back of my stencil. I aligned the stencil to be centered on my cardstock and inked it really well with Lumberjack Plaid Distress Ink. For those that don’t know, the flag of Malta is red and White, which is why I chose that Distress Ink color. To define the edge a bit, I inked it ever-so-slightly with Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink.
I die cut “Hey, Cuz” out of black and white cardstock with a discontinued alphabet die set from Simon Says Stamp. My cousins and I call ourselves “Cuz,” so I’ll be sending this to one of them. My panel is a full 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ so I didn’t need to do anything to my card base.
Again, I know this card isn’t for everyone, but hopefully it inspires you to look closely at your stencils and see what designs pop out at you.
