Hello! When I made the card I’m sharing today, I needed to take it easy….I was having hand and shoulder issues from my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and I couldn’t do any physically challenging crafting, so I decided to play with Gelatos and the Double Ginger Flowers stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.

I started off with a piece of cardstock that I applied white gesso to and let dry. Then I scribbled all over the front of the a bunch of Gelatos. They are so creamy and easy to apply, and don’t hurt my hand or shoulder at all. I used Lemon, Peach, Mango, Iced Currant (which has a shimmer), and Blood Orange. Then I spritzed the panel with water and blended them together with my finger. Again, this is very low-impact crafting. After I was happy with the panel, I set it aside to dry.
Next, I laid my Double Ginger Flowers stencil on top and taped it in place. Using a baby wipe, I rubbed out the negatives spaces of the stencil to remove the Gelatos. They still tint the gessoed cardstock, but most of the color gets removed. Once that was done, I removed the stencil, then sprayed the panel with Krylon Matte Finish Spray, and used a black Posca pen (2.5 mm) to add quick shadowing. I inked my card base with VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne and added a sentiment from Tim Holtz’s Noteworthy set with the same ink. I heat embossed it with Detail Black because regular dye and pigment inks slide right off of the panel once the Matte Finish has been applied. So, embossing the sentiment ensures it will not come off. I also added a messy rim of orange glitter paste around the edge of the panel for a little shine and texture.
I love using Gelatos, especially on days that my pain is high. If you deal with pain from arthritis, fibromyalgia, or even Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome like me, you may want to try using this fun little lipstick-like medium. I’ve got a few different things I use on high pain days, so I am going to make a category in my blog post tags for “Low Impact Crafting”. I’ll try to go through some of my older posts and tag them this way so you can find them if you need them. Please be sure to visit A Colorful Life Designs to see the many, many stencils they have to offer. You can use my code, AlFan10 to save 10% off of your regular-priced purchase.
