Hello! I have another card that uses Gelatos today, which I love to use on days where I am having a pain flare. I’m starting a “Low Impact Crafting” category in my tags, so if you want to see a bunch of things that you can still create even if you don’t feel great. Today’s card uses the new Aztec Pattern stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.

This technique is really simple. You can see another project using it HERE. I start off with a piece of cardstock that I applied white gesso to. Then, I scribble my chosen colors all over the panel. This time, I used a metallic teal and blue, Raspberry, and Fig. Then, the panel gets spritzed with water and I blend the colors together with my finger. After the panel is dry, I lay the stencil on top, temporarily adhere it, and then I rub the negative space with a baby wipe. It pales the color and makes the stenciled design stand out. Once that’s done, I spray the panel with Krylon’s Matte Finish Spray.
I didn’t want to hide too much of the background, so I stamped my sentiment on vellum. I used Tim Holtz’s Bold Sayings, which I inked with VersaMark and heat embossed with white. Then I tore the edges. To adhere it, I only applied glue where the letters are, so that it doesn’t show through the vellum. I needed something else to jazz up the card, so I wrapped it with a lavender colored twine. I used craft foam to pop up the panel and I left my card base white (gasp!).
I’m having a lot of fun using this technique with Gelatos. There are other things you can do, of course, but this is just a really fun and simple one. Please be sure to visit A Colorful Life Designs to see the many, many stencils they have to offer. You can use my code, AlFan10 to save 10% off of your regular-priced purchase.
